Be responsible!

There are times, when we have to make a quick decision: to continue or to stop. This is applicable to decisions defining responsibility as well. In order that we stay responsible, we have to describe - not define- our responsibilities. The greatest embodiment of responsibility is the one that is closest to all of us - mothers. Ask them to put a 'start' and 'end' to their responsibility towards their sons/ daughters, they would be quick to describe that as a process from 'Birth' to 'Death'! Ask God as to what his zone of responsibility is - he would say, it is from 'Birth' to 'Salvation' for the chosen few, and Birth' to 'Death' for the rest. Anything and everything that happens during these points of reference, would become their responsibility.

Being responsible, presupposes existence of patience, forgiveness, selflessness, and a strong commitment to purpose.

As an aside, the recent economic downturn was caused by the irresponsible behavior of the only superpower of our time. So narrow was its definition of 'Responsibility' that even that nation collapsed. That leads us to another learning - The mighty and powerful have to expand their horizon when it comes to responsibility, in order that they stay mighty, powerful - and more importantly, relevant for others! Be responsible!!
